The Mayan calendar and 2012 are is sometimes dismissed and the "prophecies" are made to sound like silly nonsense by people who have not taken the time look into it. The day that the Mayan calender ends, December 21 2012, is not an arbitrary "prophecy." It is a day when the earth, the sun, and the galactic center (what the Mayans called the "Hunab Ku") will come into alignment, an event that occurs every 12,960 years.

I try to continue to learn as I get older, and my open mind has led me to many skills that others my age do not have, because they felt that they didn't need to learn them, or that they couldn't. It makes sense to me that there are cycles in nature because I see them at work in earth, so why wouldn't there be larger galactic cycles? This is what interests me about the Mayan calendar, and I look forward to seeing what if anything changes as we approach Dec 21 2012.

Our present fear and consumption based paradigm is collapsing, and new vibe, Vibe 2012, is there to take its place. We intend to promote awareness of the end of the Mayan calendar, but not as some sort of negative end of the world thing, but as an event of great novelty, as the late Terence McKenna referred to it.
